Iced Tea ::repurposed::

21 04 2010

So here’s the thing: over the weekend I decided I wanted to brew iced tea; however, I lacked the spiffy type of glass jug that my mother and grandmother would use and set out in the sun to do their brewing. I’m sort of nostalgic about these sorts of things, so I wanted to do it similarly. I thought about it for a while.

Being a college student and having one of those odd tendencies to save bottles I thought they’d be perfect to use. Now, I’m by no means someone who makes an effort to go green or recycle, but this seemed to turn out well for my pseudo-green efforts–because not only are these bottles recycled but several of them are wine bottles from Oliver Winery located only 30 minutes or so from my home. Yes, I’m recycling and keeping it local and utilizing an effective means for storing iced tea without having to go buy some jug when I have already bought multiple similar containers. And the tea tastes just fine.
